Thomson Reuters is making its Checkpoint Learning Tax Research Certificate Program available to the academic market, the company said this week. The program, deviled by the CPEasy platform, is designed to helps students develop their tax research knowledge.

Xero has hired Douglas Jeffries as CFO as the prior occupant of that job, Ross Jenkins, is moving to the newly created position of COO. Jeffries will be based in San Francisco. Meanwhile, the New Zealand-based marketer of cloud accounting software this week announced the hiring of a sales VP for the United States and of a sales director in the United Kingdom.

Auto Dealer CPAs, an association of accounting firms serving automobile dealers and their owners, has opened a new website. The group, which has 22 member firms, changed its name late last year from CPA Auto Dealer Consultants Association as it seeks to establish itself nationally.

Scott Zandbergen, VP of the business development and professional network for Wave Accounting, has moved to Intuit Canada. Zandbergen signaled the change of jobs in a Tweet this week that says he will lead marketing for ProFile, Intuit's professional tax software in Canada.

BenefitMall, which owns the CompuPay payroll line, has a new CFO after promoting the prior holder of that job to the position of president. The Dallas, Texas-based company says it has named Stephanie Bowman as CFO following the promotion of Scott Kirksey.
Blackbaud Exec Moye Resigns

Joseph D. Moye, has resigned his position as president of Blackbaud's Enterprise Customer Business unit. The resignation is effective January 30 with Moye continuing as an employee until March 15 in a transitional capacity. Blackbaud says Moye is leaving for personal reasons.

Xero has discontinued the job of chief revenue officer. The company said the move stemmed from the addition of a chief marketing officer who has responsibility for online sales and marketing, and the growth in regional capabilities.
IRS Rolls Out Post-Appeals Program

A program of post-Appeals mediation has been rolled out nationally by the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS has expanded what had been a pilot program, which was started in December 2008, for Offer in Compromise and Trust Fund Recovery Penalty cases. Aimed at resolving disputes after unsuccessful negotiations with the IRS Office of Appeals, it is available for both factual and legal issues.
