Rippling Expands EOR Program 2

Rippling has expanded its Employer of Record program to eight new countries. The change is part of the latest monthly release of the office application.
With EOR, a user can establish a legal entity in a country outside the United States, giving the user the ability to hire and pay employees in other countries. The latest additions are Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Israel, New Zealand, the Philippines, Switzerland and Turkey.
In addition, Rippling is providing hourly workers with a weekly break down of pay on paystubs so they can see hours worked, including overtime, for each of the weeks included in the pay period.
Users can now down payroll comparison data as a CSV file. Rippling says it has also provided more efficient time-entry CSV imports for Time an Attendance since users can automatically reconcile timestamps based on the employee’s timezone and
filter down to a specific set of imported entries and delete only those
They can also import thousands of entries in seconds, versus 30 minutes.

Wolters Kluwer's Tax and Accounting operations turned in a 2-percent drop in revenue for the year ended December 31 but showed a rise in organic revenue. And the company was happy that software revenue in North America grew by 5 percent over 2013 and the company expects strong growth in software sales this year. The drop in tax and accounting revenue reflected the transfer last year of some assets to the company's Legal & Regulatory division.
Bill.Com Raises $50 Million

Bill.com, which markets web-based invoicing services, has closed a financing round of $50 million. The company intends to use the proceeds to fuel growth on the heels of doubling its business in the last 12 months. The latest round brings the amount the company has raised to more than $100 million.
SEC: Former CPA Ignored Order

The Securities and Exchange Commission is seeking force a former CPA, who it claims ignored its barring him from practice, to obey its orders. The agency said the former accountant, David Rivard, involved in accounting fraud at the former Computer Associates, failed to pay a civil money judgment and also began working as a financial consultant who prepared financial statements, despite the SEC’s action and the loss of his CPA license.
Block Keeps Up Heat on TurboTax

H&R Block is continuing to attempt to take advantage of the woes faced by Intuit's TurboTax this tax season. The company is offering taxpayers the opportunity the pay half of what they paid another tax preparer last year.
Block had already offered free desktop software to unhappy TurboTax users.

Wolters Kluwer, CCH Small Firm Services has introduced a web-based platform, CCH iFirm, that paves the way for placing its entire tax and accounting suite in the cloud. Currently, iFirm offers access to practice management and trial balance functions. But more applications likely will be placed under the iFirm umbrella to draw from a common database.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has censured Chinese accounting firms that are members of the Big Four. The Chinese firms admitted they failed to produce requested documents before proceedings were begun in 2012. They must provide documents and meet SEC requirements over the next for year. Each firm agreed to pay $500,000.
Abila Unifies Channel Offerings

Nonprofit software vendor Abila has simplified the channel program it inherited. Late last month, the Austin, Texas, based company said it had reduced seven partner categories to three as part of what it is formally calling the Partner Ecosystem. The program has three elements, Business Partners, Product Partners and Implementation Partners.

Intuit and H&R Block put their software market battle on wheels this week with both companies promoting deals for Uber drivers. Intuit is offering Uber drivers free copies of its recently launched QuickBooks Online Self-Employed software. CPA Gets 21 Years in Ponzi Scheme

Jonathan D. Davey, a Newark, Ohio-based tax preparer, has been sentenced to 21 years in federal prison for his role in the Black Diamond Ponzi scheme that swindled victims out of more than $40 million. Davey allegedly used shell companies that helped finance the construction of his 9,000-sq.ft. Ohio mansion that had a secret escape passage by preying on the elderly.
