This seems to be a modification of Intuit's plans for entering new markets with accounting software. Past discussions by executives have focused on the ability to enable developers in other countries to localize QuickBooks. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
"With its experienced team already focused on serving micro small businesses in a country with a growing tech community and thriving entrepreneurial culture, ZeroPaper will help accelerate Intuit's entry into the market," Dan Wernikoff, senior vice president and general manager of Intuit's Small Business Group, said in a prepared statement.
Intuit was active in purchasing software companies in 2014, but that was generally in the area of markets related to accounting, not in accounting software. Last year, Intuit purchased KDK Software of India, but that company's emphasis was more on tax preparation than accounting. It also bought PaySuite, a payroll processor based in the United Kingdom.
