Georgia Preparer Faces 17 Years in Fraud Case

A tax return preparer from Macon, Ga., faces up to 17 years in prison and a fine of $500,000 after pleading guilty to charges involving phony tax returns. Willie C. Grant admitted to using former clients' names - many of them elderly or deceased - and Social Security numbers to file returns without their knowledge.

Man Tricked Crooked Preparer; Gets 15 Years

An Arizona man, who helped fleece a crooked preparer and then got him arrested, has received 188 months in prison for money laundering and cheating the Internal Revenue Service. Gino Carlucci drew the sentence for role in stealing large amounts of money and assets from Ohio tax preparer, Joseph Flickinger, who stole the life savings from several clients and received 70 months in prison for his crimes.
