Thomson CEO: Tax Change Proposals Producing Business

NEW YORK - Proposals for tax change swirling about Washington are fueling business growth in the tax and accounting market, Tom Glocer, CEO of Thomson Reuters told attendees yesterday at the Goldman Sachs Communicopia XVIII Conference. Glocer also noted that the company's Tax & Accounting business will top $1 billion in revenue this year.
"We’ve seen growth accelerate during the year in tax and accounting," said Glocer.

Thomson Donates CPA2BIZ Holdings

NEW YORK - The Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters has donated its entire holdings in CPA2Biz, the for-profit subsidiary of the American Institute of CPAs, to the AICPA Foundation. Thomson Reuters said it had owned 8.71 percent of CPA2Biz following its 2001 investment. At the time, Thomson was one of three companies that invested $25 million each in the effort.
Paychex Bonuses Slashed

Executives at Paychex took a hit in the pocket book as shown by the company's report regarding compensation for the year ended May 31, with bonuses trimmed substantially. The largest decline was experienced by President and CEO Jonathan J. Judge whose total compensation fell to just under $3.45 million for the year, down 25.6 percent and a drop of $1.2 million, from $4.63 million for fiscal 2008. The information was contained in the annual proxy statement filed with SEC.Read more...
