CPA.com has given Caitlin Lacher and Rachael Higginbotham, two marketing team members accounting firm Postlethwaite & Netterville, its Innovative Practitioners 2016 Awards. The two employees of the Baton Rouge, La.-based firm were cited as guiding forces for Pounce, an online tool that serves employees of professional service firms.

Thomson Reuters has released the OneSource Indirect Tax Certificate Manager 2.1. Available both on-premise and in the cloud, the software supports dropship certificates, provides more efficient reporting and provides support for additional computer platforms.

Oracle is paying about $9.3 billion to buy NetSuite, the company that pioneered cloud-based accounting. In a deal expected to close this year, Oracle will pay $109 per share in cash for the target company. Both were founded by Larry Ellison with NetSuite founded in 1998. Oracle CEO Mark Hurd said in a prepared statement the company will invest heavily in both product lines.

Microsoft has previewed Project Madeira, which introduces accounting within Office 365. Madeira, a code name, targets businesses with roughly 10 to 99 employees. The company says the cloud-based product, which does not have a public release date, will not compete with its Dynamics software products.
