Turn CRM into More than a Rolodex

crm art"We hate our CRM system. It's terrible. No one is using it. We need a better one." "Can you recommend a CRM system that is more user friendly?" "Our CRM system? It's nothing more than a glorified rolodex!" Sound familiar? It should. I hear these complaints all the time - both from clients and non-clients. Their complaints about their CRM (that's Customer Relationship Management) systems are not only untrue, but misleading. I'm tired of hearing them. I'm bored of the excuses. I'm sick of the whining. Little-known Technologies: Big Impact on Business

zioskA few weeks ago I had a British experience at Pizzeria Uno's near Boston. No, they weren't serving fish and chips. On each table at the restaurant was a little wireless device. When I was done eating I paid for my meal by using the device. No server was involved. I say this was a British experience because every time I visit my wife's family in London. my kids drag us to the local Pizza Express restaurant. Read more...

Surface tabletMicrosoft Surface has shipped, and I was one of the lucky people to get one of the very first units. We are going to see many new tablets released this fall including the iPad Mini, which I have on order ($634.99), as well as the new iPad4 and replacements for the Google nexus7 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 that I own, like and use. The tablet operating systems, usability and applications improve daily.

For Most Businesses, The iPhone Doesn't Matter

iPhone5A couple of weeks ago I traveled to Orlando and a car service met me at the airport. The driver was a nice man who spoke almost no English. But that made little difference. Because what was the first thing he did once I was settled in the backseat? He took out his iPad and updated the office with details of my pick-up time, number of bags and destination. When we arrived at the hotel where I was staying, the driver again completed the order with my drop-off time and took my credit card using the tablet. His office knew where he was at every turn by the device's built in GPS system and notified him of his next pickup. Read more...

SmartPhone Apps for Salespeople

Smartphone imageIf you are a salesperson, then you will have a smartphone. Not a Blackberry, because no one in this country uses Blackberrys any more. You will have an iPhone or a phone that uses the Android operating system. This may not be the case in just a few years when (in my opinion) tablets, like the iPad, Nexus and Surface will be the primary device for you. But for now it's the smartphone. It is your No. 1 tool for closing more deals. Read more...
