CPA Faces Five Years In Refund Fraud

doj logoA Los Angeles, Calf.-based CPA has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to defraud the United States. Accountant and tax preparer, Masood Chotoni, entered the plea which stemmed from charges that he filed returns using names and Social Security numbers of deceased taxpayers. San Antonio Preparers Draw Ban

Pete Escalante Gutierrez and Jeanette Gutierrez of San Antonio, Texas, have been permanently barred from preparing federal tax returns for others. A federal court took the actions against the two this week and although the injunction permits four companies they own to continue to operate, although the Gutierrezes must sell their interests them. Intuit’s Cook Sells $37.4M Shares

Scott Cook, IntuitIntuit founder Scott Cook closed out 2012 by selling a bit more than $37.4 million in the company's stock during the second half of December. For Cook, it was the largest amount of Intuit stock sold in a single month in more than two years. The largest block was 266,666 shares sold on December 16 for $16.5 million.
