Intuit Starts TurboTax CPA Select

CPA Select logoIntuit has rolled out TurboTax CPA Select, a service that enables consumers to pick a CPA to prepare their tax returns. Consumers can hire CPAs via an Intuit website and have returns prepared for pre-negotiated rates.

The site, https://turbotaxcpaselect.intuit.com, provides information about the experience of participating CPAs and user reviews of their services.

Intuit provides two different pricing plans for individuals. The basic plan is $89.95 per return which Intuit says is for any filing status and for those with children and dependents who own their homes or rent. The advanced plan for $199.95 applies to those who may have other tax-deductible expenses and includes up to five stock sale transactions. These prices apply only to the federal returns. State and local returns are $37 each.

Taxpayers can upload documents, including prior-year returns, via the Intuit website, fax, mobile or email. They can communicate with CPAs via phone or email and will be able to pay invoices online, download and review the return and have the accountant electronically file the return. There is also a Small Business plan for $349.95 that includes 10 stock sale transactions, home office deductions and depreciation.
