Avalara Chooses Top Technologist

Danny Fields, AvalaraSales-and-use tax vendor Avalara has hired Danny Fields, an Oracle veteran, as EVP of engineering and chief technology officer. He succeeds Peter Harodon, who left the Seattle, Wash.-based company in January

Fields was most recently SVP of engineering and chief software development officer at MobileIron from February 2016 until taking the new job. 

Before that, Fields worked for software giant, Oracle, from July 1990 through July 2007.  He joined RightNow Technologies from August 2007 through February 2012, where he was  VP of engineering for the RightNow Service Cloud. 

Oracle purchased that company and Fields returned to Oracle as VP of engineering for the Oracle Service Cloud from March 2012 through August 2015. He was group VP of engineering in the same arena from September 2015 through February 2016.
