Xero, a New Zealand-based company, nas named Ian Vacin as VP of marketing for U.S. operations. Vacin, who was recently worked at Intuit, joins the company as at seeks to ramp up the still-small market for its online accounting applications in the United States.
AICPA Chooses New SVP

The American Institute of CPAs has hired Deloitte's Lawson Carmichael as senior vice-president for strategy, people and innovation. Carmichael will lead the AICPA’s strategic planning activities and oversee the Office of Strategy Management and Human Resources team. He will also be responsible for market research and product and services innovation.
TurboTax Unit Sales Rose 6 Percent

TurboTax unit sales were up 6 percent for the recently concluded tax season when compared to a year ago. Intuit released its final update for the 2012 on April 20 for the season through April 18, While digital tax unit sales were lower than expected, Dan Maurer, SVP and general manager of the company's consumer group, said Intuit believes it gained one point of market share online.
