Liberty, TurboTax Grow Double Digits

The numbers are starting to roll in for the 2011 tax season and for Intuit's TurboTax and the Liberty Tax Service it was a good year. Liberty said it prepared 11 percent more returns through April 19 than it did last year. Meanwhile, Intuit hit the same 11 percent growth mark for sales of TurboTax with booming sales of the online product continuing to fuel overall increases.
SEC Holding IFRS Roundtable

The Securities and Exchange Commission will conduct a roundtable at its headquarters in Washington D.C. to discuss the benefits and challenges of incorporating International Financial Reporting Standards into the financial reporting system for issuers in the United States. The IFRS event is scheduled for July 7 at the facility at 100 F. Street N.E.

The Bureau of National Affairs has purchased substantially all the assets of BNA Subsidiaries, a subsidiary whose product lines had been IOMA and Kennedy Information. BNA had placed the operation in Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September and a reorganization plan was confirmed by the bankruptcy court on March 22. The unit was to be renamed Kennedy Information. The sale of assets to BNA was made in consideration of its debtor-in-possession financing and intercompany claim.
