IRS: Delayed Returns to Arrive Soon

IRSRefunds for those claiming the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Additional Child Tax Credit should begin arriving soon. The Internal Revenue Service says many of these will be available in bank accounts or on debit cards this week.

By law, the IRS could not issue refunds before mid-February for tax returns that claim these credits. Taxpayers can check the status of refunds via the  "Where’s My Refund?" tool on IRS.gov or the IRS2Go mobile app. “Where’s My Refund?”. The agency notes Where’s My Refund? Is updated once daily, usually overnight.

To access the tools, a taxpayers must provide a Social Security number, tax filing status, exact amount of refund claimed. They can also call  (800) 829-1954.
