Liberty Advisory Councils Support Change

Andy Banker, Liberty Tax area developer and advisory council memberTwo advisory councils in the Liberty Tax Service network have endorsed the hiring of three new executives by the tax services chain. The council's official statement noted that the new execs come out of the franchisee and area developer base.

"We are closely aligned with Nicole Ossenfort, CEO, Ryan Dodson, CSO [chief strategy officer], and Shaun York, COO," Andy Banker, Liberty Tax area developer and advisory council member, said in a prepared statement.

The statements of support came from the Franchisee Advisory Council and Area Developer Advisory Council.

They came after Liberty this week ousted CEO Ed Brunot, who assume the position in November after the board of directors fired founder and former CEO John Hewitt. Hewitt was terminated after an investigation found employee complaints he had been heard having sex in his office and had favored staffers with whom he had romantic relationships.

Despite the statement of support, periodic emails have arrived at this publication claiming the mood of the store operators is by far not so rosy.

Hewitt, who remains as chairman, controls the company through his ownership of all Class B shares. That stake gives him the right to name board members and appoint executives.
