IRSAC Applications Being Accepted

Committeee meetingApplications for membership In the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council have opened.for 2023. Applications will be accepted through June 3 for three-year terms that begin in January.

The IRSAC serves as an advisory body to the IRS commissioner and provides an organized public forum for discussion of relevant tax administration issues between IRS officials and representatives of the public.

The advisory council: proposes such things as enhancements to IRS operations, administrative and policy changes to improve taxpayer service, compliance and tax administration. It discusses information reporting issues, and addresses matters concerning tax-exempt and government entities.

Nominations should document the proposed member's qualifications. In particular, the IRSAC is seeking applicants with knowledge and background in some of the following areas.

Applicants should document equalizations of proposed members. Members are sought with knowledge in the areas of individual wage and investment, small business and self-employed, large business and international, tax exempt and government entities and information reporting.

Bob Scott has provided information to the tax and accounting community since 1991, first as technology editor of Accounting Today, and from 1997 through 2009 as editor of its sister publication, Accounting Technology. He is known throughout the industry for his depth of knowledge and for his high journalistic standards.  Scott has made frequent appearances as a speaker, moderator and panelist and events serving tax and accounting professionals.
