All signs point to social media as having an important impact when it is actively used by firms like WithumSmith+Brown of Red Bank, N.J. "We support and encourage social media," says Rhonda Maraziti, the firm's director of marketing and practice growth. "It's a great way to demonstrate thought leadership." And there are a lot of elements in social media than can be measured. Social media managers can count the number of friends, followers or contacts for those at a firm or cite the number of employees with blogs along with the number of views for articles and You Tube videos to find out how well these tools work

F. Lee Bailey: Big Wins, Losses in Tax Case

Famed defense attorney F. Lee Bailey owes an unknown amount of delinquent tax and penalties under a tax court decision entered this month. The court found him negligent in his underpayments for tax years 1993 through 1995 and 1997 through 2000. However, Bailey, who represented himself, won a substantial victory when the court rejected the claim by the Internal Revenue Service that millions of dollars in stock he held in trust for a client were income.
Accountants Not Tops as Cloud Advisors

Accountants have had a reputation for their influence on accounting software buying decisions. But when it comes to influencing purchasing decision for cloud products, they come up much lower in the opinion of small and midsize business decisions makers. That was one of the findings of a cloud survey conducted by Microsoft.
