CBIZ Exec Pay Down for 2010

Compensation for five top executives of CBiz dropped in 2010 as base pay held steady and stock, option and non-equity incentive pay dropped. The overall declines ranged from a drop 2.6 percent to 7.8 percent down. Compensation for CEO Steven Gerard fell to $2.2 million for 2010, down from $2.6 million in 2090, a change of minus 5.6 percent. For Gerard, the big change was in the non-equity incentive award which fell to $354,375, off 15.7 percent from $420,190.

TaxWorks to Fix Stability Issues

RedGear Software, which markets the TaxWorks tax preparation software line, has promised users an enhanced beta testing program for the 2011 version of the software. The plan is in response to stability issues in the 2010 rendition that arose from what the company said was a migration of technology in 2009 and 2010 that was designed to improve performance.
Software Buoys BNA Profits

Profit and revenue for the Bureau of National Affairs rebounded for the year ended December 31 with its software operations continuing to produce a disproportionate amount of the company's operating profits. BNA net income rose by 58 percent, largely because of lower expenses, while revenue was virtually unchanged. However, the software segment, which includes BNA Software and STF Services Corp., produced 24 percent of the operating profit even though it represents only 9.4 percent of revenue.
