Gusto Starts Payroll Certification

Ribbon blue newGusto has begun a Payroll Certification program for its accounting partners. Participates can earn badges to demonstrate their knowledge of payroll,  the company said this month.

That move comes at the same time Gusto introduced other tools for firms providing payroll services.

There are nine modules available online to accountants, but they can take those elements individually, according to Will Lopez. Individuals can take some elements and return to take others with progress recorded by the system.

“It’s available and free to the accounting profession,” he notes, meaning free to those in the accountant program.

It is the latest in efforts to support firms with Gusto having launched its People Advisory in 2020 and the Accelerator Program to train firm leaders in providing HR and related services to client. There are 3,000 now certified People Advisors.

Modules in the Payroll Certification program are Introducing Gusto Payroll Certification; Payroll Fundamentals; Onboarding Employees; Understanding Pay Schedules; Tracking Time; Processing Payroll and Payments; Making the Accounting Entry; Filing Payroll Tax Forms; and Offboarding Employees.

Courses are being offered via the newly launched Gusto Academy.

Also new is People Analytics, tools that provide data on clients’ businesses. Gusto says these tools help accountants advise clients on growing teams, revenue and businesses. Benchmarking data based on industry, experience, and location are being drawn from Gusto’s network of businesses and employees. In addition, financial insights about key client business metrics will be provided through integration with QuickBooks Online with integrations to other financial packages planned.

Finally, the vendor is providing Gusto Connect, an online community for bringing accountants together for discussion.
