Rippling Expands EOR Program 2

Rippling has expanded its Employer of Record program to eight new countries. The change is part of the latest monthly release of the office application.
With EOR, a user can establish a legal entity in a country outside the United States, giving the user the ability to hire and pay employees in other countries. The latest additions are Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Israel, New Zealand, the Philippines, Switzerland and Turkey.
In addition, Rippling is providing hourly workers with a weekly break down of pay on paystubs so they can see hours worked, including overtime, for each of the weeks included in the pay period.
Users can now down payroll comparison data as a CSV file. Rippling says it has also provided more efficient time-entry CSV imports for Time an Attendance since users can automatically reconcile timestamps based on the employee’s timezone and
filter down to a specific set of imported entries and delete only those
They can also import thousands of entries in seconds, versus 30 minutes.

Sage North America says it has isolated, but not solved, the problem that has caused in instability and outages to its online systems, including a 22-hour outage on June 1 and 2 in which the company's Web site, email and order entry-system and an online CRM application were out simultaneously during part of that time.
Intuit Details PM Suite On Web Site
Intuit hasn't officially launched its online practice management suite. However, the company has recently posted details about the upcoming product, ProLine Practice Management, on its Web site. Basic information on suite elements, but not proposed pricing, was made available, along with screen shots.

Security Issues First in AICPA Top Tech List

A mix of security issues topped the annual list of Top Technology Initiatives as selected by the American Institute of CPAs. The top issues selected encompassed security of data; code and communications; data security and document retention and security threats. Traditionally, the selection has been announced in January. However, this year, announcement was delayed as the AICPA considered changes to the selection process.

Intuit's planned practice management suite is going to be a completely Web-based entry. And although Intuit offered few new details, as it seems to be following a policy of dropping a few hints periodically about the package, the fact that the offering is a SaaS product marks a significant shift in the company's approach to the professional tax and accounting market.
Jackson Hewitt Returns Fell 14.4 Percent

With its tax season hurt by the inability to get funding for all its refund loan business, Jackson Hewitt saw 2.53 million tax returns prepared at its company-owned and franchised offices during this year's tax season, a drop of 14.4 percent from 2.955 million for the 2009 tax season. And that was actually an improvement from the 17-percent to 19-percent drop the company had predicted, since it had a better performance in the second half of the season than expected.

Thomson Reuters Moves Users' Conference

Thomson Reuters has moved the venue and date for its 30th Annual Users Conference to the Gaylord National Hotel near Washington, D.C., following the floods that damaged the sister Gaylord Opryland in Nashville earlier this year. The conference is for users of the company's products for tax and accounting professionals, such as UltraTax CS and Write-Up CS.

AICPA Changes Membership Categories

SAN DIEGO – The governing council of the American Institute of CPAs has created three membership categories, a move the organization says is designed to draw more qualified people into the accounting profession and widen the availability of AICPA knowledge and resources. The categories are regular/voting members, affiliates and associates.

Alere Accounting 6.6 can mark locations within a company as "excluded" so that inventory at those locations will not be included on the stock reorders report. This enables companies to use these locations for damaged, defective or overstocked inventory or inventory that is being returned to a supplier. Inventory can also be stage in preparation for a job or project, staged for transfer to another location or company or for inventory that is being returned for evaluation or repair.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - Intuit expects its tax preparation customers who offer bank products will rely more heavily on Refund Advantage for the next tax season, following the exit of Chase Tax Related Products from the bank product business this spring.
