The Internal Revenue Service has appointed nine new members to the Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee. ETAAC is a public forum for discussion of issues in electronic tax administration, which works with the Security Summit, a collaboration of different levels of government to fight identity theft and refund fraud.

Surf Accounts, a cloud-based bookkeeping system, has entered the United States. The Ireland-based company recently opened offices in New York, N.Y., and Los Angeles, Calif., and is offering a partner program to accountants and bookkeepers.

Canopy has hired Larry Furr as VP of product, the company said this week. In his new job, Furr will oversee the strategy, management, and design of Canopy’s suite of products and chart Canopy’s product roadmap.
