ADP Testing New Platforms

Automatic Data Processing is testing its new Lifion Human Capital Management Platform, payroll product and tax engine. CEO Carlos Rodriguez said in a recent web cast for earnings for the year ended June 30 that the company is selling the Lifion and payroll efforts on a limited basis, but is expanding sales.

“We are not in general availability, but we are selling new clients,” Rodriguez said about Lifiom.  ADP recently expanded its sales force for Lifion, which currently has four or five clients who have implemented the new HCM platform and gone live. The new payroll platform has about a dozen customers in a pilot program. Rodriguez said that like the new tax engine the next generation of payroll “is also a global platform with a rules-based engine.”

“And I think we are intending to ramp up our sales implementation resources on that front also,” Rodriguez said. He noted the tax engine “should lead to some real scale and efficiency gains there and more flexibility for our service organization also for our clients”.

For fiscal 2019, ADP’s net income was $2.29 billion, an increase of 21.6 percent over $1.88 billion for fiscal 2018. Revenue grew to $14.18 billion for the recently ended year, up 6.4 percent from $13.33 billion the prior year.

Employer Services revenue (payroll) rose to $9.94 billion, an increase of  5 percent over a year ago and also on an and organic constant currency basis. New business bookings jumped 11 percent for the fourth quarter and 8 percent for the year.

Revenue for PEO Services was up 9 percent for the quarter and for the year, reaching $4.24 billion for fiscal 2019.
