AbacusNext Buys HotDocs

Alessandra Lezama, AbacusNextAbacusNext, which acquired practice management vendor OfficeTools in May, has purchased HotDocs. The acquired company's products can generate customized documents such as contracts, sales agreements, government forms and loan documentation. Terms were not disclosed.

The deal "will make an immediate impact for our client base of legal and accounting firms," Alessandra Lezama, CEO of AbacusNext, said in a prepared statement.

Products include HotDocs Server which provides browser-based access to HotDocs templates; HotDocs Cloud Services, a hosted system; and HotDocs Hub, designed to speed system implementation.

The deal also gives AbacusNext HotDocs Market, an online ecommerce marketplace which has more than 9,000 users and enables them to purchase and use HotDoc templates. AbacusNext said the goal is to have online access to products and templates across its portfolio.

Besides purchasing OfficeTools this year, AbacusNext acquired Results Software, a CRM application company, and Cloudnine Realtime, which provides software hosting for accounting
