Steven Kelley, SageThe low-cost accounting package Sage One has been relaunched in the United States. The online application has apparently been repriced and plans for previously announced editions do not appear to have materialized. The new initiative was announced by Sage CEO Stephen Kelley during the recent webcast of earnings for the half ended March 31.

The company said during its Summit conference a year ago that it planned the introduction of Sage Extra in this country. But that does not appear to have happened. Also, the standard pricing of $14 per month has given way to a basic free basic program that is accompanied by a Premium edition that is priced at $5 per month.

Kelley noted Sage has increased the pace of development with eight significant features introduced in the first quarter and 33 in the second quarter. But he added, "We are not on a par with the best-in-class in the market place"
