Thomson Intros New Workpaper Product

Melissa Yard, Thomson Reuters

Thomson Reuters has introduced a new workpaper product, Workpaper CS. And while the company will continue to maintain its Engagement CS product, that product will not get much further development.

"We continue developing it here and there but mainly it's in maintenance mode," was the way Melissa Yard describes the future of Engagement CS, even thought that product had a 10-precent increase in sales last year. Its apparent replacement, Workpaper CS, is another part of the company's CS Professional Suite, a group of products that share a common database. Yard says the new application is available as a standalone product or with Accounting CS. "If somebody buys it as a standalone, they will get a trial balance piece and workpaper management," says Yard.

Workpaper CS can be used as an on-premise or SaaS product. Yard says the initial release is primarily focused on tax worklow. And noting that many users utilize Engagement CS as a document management package, she continues that Workpaper CS is designed to fit those needs. The price at $1,250 for the first four users and $500 for each additional user under the SaaS model.
