Mobile Tops AICPA Top 10 Technologies

AICPAThe American Institute of CPAs has chosen control and use of mobile devices as the No. 1 issue for its Top Technology Initiatives for 2011. It's the second year for the ranking of initiatives, which last year replaced the previous Top Ten Technologies. The selection combines a variety of technologies and business processes impacted by technology.

The new method has fewer security-oriented issues than the Top Ten Technologies, although given the way the topics are defined, the rankings aren't completely comparable. However, information security ranked No. 2 in this year's listed followed by data retention polices and structure and remote access with staff and management training rounding out the top five.

The remainder are process documentation and improvements as No. 6; saving and making money with technology, No. 7; technology cost controls, No. 8; budget processes, No. 9; and project management and deployment of new technology, No. 10.
