The number of tax returns received by the IRS has fallen behind last year’s total for the second week in a row. Returns received through March 17 were .5 percent below those received by the Internal Revenue Services through March 18, 2022.

South Carolina’s elected comptroller general, Richard Eckstrom, is resigning after the heat grew intense because of $3.5-billion error in state financial reporting. A CPA, Eckstrom, had held the job for 20 years.
