His compensation included a $950,000 cash sign-on bonus, stock awards valued at $7.9 million and stock options worth $1.4 million. In his last year on the job, William Cobb, the recently retired CEO of H&R Block saw a 22.6-percent rise in compensation. Cobb, who left on July 31, was given slightly more than $8 million for the year ended April 30, up from $6.6 million the year before.
