Avalara Hires SSTGB Director Peterson
Avalara has named Scott Peterson, executive director of the Streamlined Sales Tax Governing Board, as director of government affairs. Peterson had been involved with that body since its inception in 2000. It was formed to simplify state sales tax collection. He takes on his new duties on November 12.
Before joining the SSTGB, Peterson was director of the Business Tax division for the South Dakota Department of Revenue and Regulation where he was responsible for the administration of the South Dakota sales tax, the contractor's excise tax, and municipal sales tax. Avalara provides online services so that businesses can stay current on sales tax rates, calculate tax obligations and file and report to state and local governments.
