IRS Notes New Efiling Rules

 The Internal Revenue Service is noting that amended rules for efiling returns and other documents begins next year for tax year 2023.

Among the changes, the 250-return threshold for efiling is dropping to 10 or more returns is th emajor one.

The agency noted the amended regulations (outlined in Treasury Decision 9972), requires filers to combine all information return types covered by the regulation to determine if they met the threshold.  The IRS also notes it created a free portal to assist businesses in efiling Form 1099 series returns. The portal is known as the Information Returns Intake System (IRIS),
