Intuit to Offer e-Payment for Tax Clients

IJorge Olavarrieta, Intuitntuit hopes to enable clients to pay tax preparers electronically by tax season. The software company also plans to offer ACH transactions, according to Jorge Olavarrieta, an Intuit Group Product manager. He notes the company already has a simple invoicing feature.

"We are in the process to enabling electronic payments by tax season," Olavarrieta says. He also notes the ACH capability will cost 50 cents per transaction. The current invoicing system lets preparers create a bill for the amount and convert it to PDF format.

Olavarrieta notes that with an online product features are introduced throughout the year, not just with the release of a tax season application. Features that have been recently added include W-2 import. There is an Excel import feature, which Olivarrieta says considers "to be stopgap for downloading data from financial institutions. We have that on desktop; we working to implement it online."

The company is also moving towards a new way of collecting customer data. "This will radically change the way you collect data from clients," Olavarrieta says.

Intuit will release the feature, Intuit Link, the online product in November and into Lacerte by tax season. Link will be available for ProSeries after tax season, but in time for extensions. Customers will use Link by uploading data to the portal.

"You will be notified immediately when a customer has entered data," says Olavarrieta. We are in the process of putting that in the mobile application as well."
