Wisconsin CPA Indicted

John Noggle, CPAA Hales Corner, Wis., CPA has been indicted on federal charges of filing false tax returns by concealing clients' financial standings and obtaining or writing off funds from insurance policies. John C. Noggle was indicted by a grand jury sitting in Milwaukee last month. He is accused of incorrectly advising clients they were able to take funds out of life insurance and annuity holdings, which resulted in underreporting of income.

Milwaukee-area publications reported Noggle advised clients they could take funds out of life insurance and annuity holdings. Noggle earned commissions on the insurance products he recommended to clients. His advice resulted in four taxpayers filing returns that understate the taxes owned by about $411,000.

A sole practitioner, Noggle has has operated his firm since 2003. His website says he is a director of the National Conference of CPA Practitioners. The case was handled by the U.S. attorney's office in Milwaukee
