Overseas Returns Draw Preparer Ban

justiceA Texas tax preparer has been banned from preparer tax returns for others for her role in falsifying returns for customers working for defense contractors. The Justice Department said Karena Mondrianh invented business expenses for clients, most of whom perform overseas work, and urged one to lie to an investigator.

Mondrianh, who operated in  Southlake Texas, was also banned from operating a tax-preparation business. She consented to a preliminary injunction without admitting the allegations. It was also alleged she gave false information to the Internal Revenue Service and told a client to lie to an agent to stall an audit by the Internal Revenue service.

She was accused of investing business expenses, sometimes without her customers' knowledge, and also falsely claiming their income was exempt from taxation.
