This is Chris Repetto, I work for Intuit's Accounting Professionals Division and I'm happy to clarify a great point that Bob raises. The TurboTax Ask-a-Tax-Expert service is NOT intended to compete with, or take the place of, professional tax preparers. The customers benefitting from this service are mostly “do it yourself” TurboTax customers who have a few questions about their return and want professional guidance before they file. They are customers who visit tax stores and do not need the full assistance of a professional tax preparer, nor do they seek answers to complex tax issues, or the personal, strategic counsel accountants provide. Intuit is absolutely committed to the success of the growing market of professional accountants. Real tax experts have always been involved in helping Intuit develop and support our TurboTax, Lacerte and ProSeries products before and during tax season. It's this imbedded expertise that enables Intuit to offer tax preparation solutions for accountants and consumers that are unmatched in the industry.
