Brittany Richardson and Terra White received probation but all three were ordered to pay $308,537 in restitution to the United States. White and Richardson said Turner trained them to submit bogus tax returns to boost client refunds.
Turner owned and operated AJW Taxes and More Tax Preparation Service, in Houston, Texas, from 2014 through 2018, employing the other two women as preparers. She admitted to submitting fraudulent Schedule C forms and W-2 tax records to the IRS, with inflated personal and business losses claimed for clients.
The trio also admitted to utilizing a unique IRS filing number assigned to other individuals.
A Texas tax preparer, who trained employees to create fraudulent tax returns, has been sentenced to 41 months in prison. Tamara Turner, aka Tamara Owens, drew the sentence in a conspiracy that saw two employees sentenced to two years’ probation each.
