Baron Leaving Thomson Reuters

Jon Baron, Thomson ReutersJon Baron is leaving Thomson Reuters after leading its professional tax business since January 2006. He made the announcement of his December departure in his keynote at the company’s Synergy conference this week. He is being replaced by Charlotte Rushton who was named president of tax professionals in July.

Baron said he was going to spend more time with his family.

Rushton was named to her job when Brian Peccarelli was named COO the same month. However, inquiries to Thomson in recent weeks about Baron’s status was that there was no change and Rushton was simply replacing Peccarrelli.

Thomson is underlying great change since it sold majority ownership of its financial and risk business to Blackstone, undoing much of the acquisition of Reuters in 2007. That business is now operating as Refinitiv.

Baron’s title changed over the years as his duties expanded but he had responsibility for the operations serving tax and accounting firms since he arrived. He was managing director for the tax and accounting professional segment from February 2011 on. Prior to that, he spent seven years as an executive in CCH’s tax and accounting business.
