Vertex Names Chief Tax Officer

Mike Bernard, Vertex Vertex has named Mike Bernard, who had a 28-year career at Microsoft, as its chief tax officer. He will replace Peggi Rockefeller, who is retiring after working at the transaction tax software company since 2012.

 He will work alongside Rockefeller for the next three months.

Bernard, an executive-level tax attorney, Microsoft in April 1990, served as U.S. tax counsel for the software company where he handled federal income tax audits, appeals and litigation.

He had executive responsibility for planning, compliance, and defense for Employee Benefits, Indirect and Telecom taxes. He also led the tax technology initiatives for the Tax Department.
