PCAOB Bar "Depressed" CPA's Latest Woe

A CPA detailed a series of family health emergencies and his resulting depression for the more than two years he failed to produce documents demanded by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. But the board barred Edwin "Ted" Reese Davis Jr. of Cedar City, Utah, from associating with any registered firm and revoked the registration of two firms he is affiliated with.

PCAOB Bans Two in 2010

PCAOB logoThe Public Accounting Oversight Board wielded its powers over individual practitioners in 2010 when it barred two CPAs from representing companies that were registered with the organization. One ban went into effect after the practitioner appealed the decision to the SEC. The other was official in December when the disciplined accountant did not protest the PCAOB's action.

CPA Cites Lost Computer, Burned House; Gets PCAOB Ban

PCAOB logoA case in which a Florida CPA was banned from associating with any PCAOB-registered firm and his firm's registration was revoked is the first litigated case involving a PCAOB decision. While the SEC this month upheld the action, the story really goes back six years when the PCAOB initially questioned the technical competency of work by Gately & Associates and CPA James P.
