Avalara Hires Chief Marketing Officer

Avalara has hired Jay Lee as its new chief marketing officer. That means the sales tax company will have new people in its top sales and marketing jobs as Pascal Van Dooren, former chief revenue officer, left in October.

Lee fills a vacancy left by Jeremy Korst, who held the post from January 2017 through January 2018. Lee worked at Swift Financial which he joined in March 2015 and served as chief marketing and product officer. Swift was purchased by PayPal in August 2017.

Before that, he was chief strategy officer for the U.S. region of Aimia from July 2012 through January 2015. He was with American Express from August 2005 and was GM of business solutions, Open, from May 2008 through July 2012.

Bob Scott has provided information to the tax and accounting community since 1991, first as technology editor of Accounting Today, and from 1997 through 2009 as editor of its sister publication, Accounting Technology. He is known throughout the industry for his depth of knowledge and for his high journalistic standards.  Scott has made frequent appearances as a speaker, moderator and panelist and events serving tax and accounting professionals. He  has a strong background in computer journalism as an editor with two former trade publications, Computer+Software News and MIS Week and spent several years with weekly and daily newspapers in Morris County New Jersey prior to that.  A graduate of Indiana University with a degree in journalism, Bob is a native of Madison, Ind
