Abacus Enters CPA Market

Abacus Next, which provides software for legal professionals, has entered the CPA market with the purchase of Cloudnine Realtime and Results Software. Cloudnine hosts applications such as those from Intuit, Sage and Microsoft while Results produces CRM packages for QuickBooks users.


Abacus pledged to support and develop Cloudnine's current offerings and use its resources to enhance those and develop and release new products.

"The newly expanded Abacus products and services portfolio will allow us to deliver the next generation of business service management and cloud hosting solutions," the company stated on its web site.

Founded in 1983, Abacus markets AbacusLaw, a case management time, billing and accounting package. In 2014, it introduced Compliance-Ready, Suite of Private Cloud Solutions while in May last year, it purchased Gavel & Gown, a Toronto, Ont.-based company which marketed Amicus Attorney CMS,

Abacus described the combined moves as providing it "a gateway into tax, accounting, finance, and construction markets, among others, as well as new partnership opportunities."
