Team Selling Drives Paychex Results

Martin Mucci, PaychexPayroll service company Paychex said its team selling strategy helped push results higher for the second quarter ended November 30. Payroll revenue rose by 4 percent driven by an increase in the client base and revenue per check, CEO Martin Mucci said in the company's recent earnings webcast. HR revenue increased by double digits.

The results dropped to the bottom line with earnings for the most recently ended quarter hitting $189.2 million, up 9.4 percent from $173 million a year earlier. Revenue of $722.4 million was 6.8-percent higher than $676.3 million in last year's corresponding quarter.

"We continue to experience solid results and momentum across our sales organization," Mucci said. The team-selling approach, he noted, had worked by introducing the company's complete suite of products "up front" to customers.

Paychex also had very strong demand for Affordable Care Act products. The company did not break out revenue figures for the category.
