Mobile Apps Added to Sage 50

Connie Certusi, SageSage has officially described new features for Sage 50 Accounting U.S. Edition (formerly Peachtree for the first time in more than two years. The company, which has abandoned its former annual updates, says the new version has a streamlined installation and it has added access to chat support throughout the product. But at the center stage of the enhancements are apps for the iPhone and the iPad.

In terms of installation, customers are notified there is an update and they click to accept with the product installed in the background. It is the first time Sage North America has issued a press release about Sage 50 features since April 2013. Sage had declared it would have more frequent updates but has not provided detail about those. The new public attention to 50 follows the summer's declaration by CEO Steve Kelly that there would be no forced migration from products.

Sage had turned much of its attention publicly to Sage One and more recently, the fledgling Live, which targets the same market. However, the company has also signaled plans to continue developing Sage 50. In an August interview about its small business software, VP Connie Certusi commented, "We are putting investment back in the products. "We have customers who don't want to move into the cloud."
