AICPA Seeks CPA Exam Input

Michael DeckerThe American Institute of CPAs has issued an Invitation to Comment, requesting feedback to help shape the next version of the Uniform CPA Examination. The comment period runs through December 2. The AICPA notes its research has found skills required of newly licensed CPA are changing rapidly which makes it important to ensure the exam meets the needs of the business world.

"This valuable input will help influence the development of the Exam, and ultimately ensure that we're continuing to protect the public interest, while setting the standard for testing accounting professionals," Michael A. Decker, VP of examinations for the AICPA, said in a prepared statement.

The "Invitation to Comment – Maintaining the Relevance of the Uniform CPA Examination" is the first document available for public comment in the Practice Analysis. It is a comprehensive research study the AICPA is conducting to determine the next Exam's outline for the next Exam. The document explains the stages of the Practice Analysis and includes results from the AICPA's preliminary research, along with specific questions about potential changes.

The Invitation to Comment is accessible at aicpa.org/NextCPAExam, which includes instructions for submitting comments
