Thomson Revamps Leadership

thomson reuters.Thomson Reuters has made a major change to its leadership with the replacement of presidents of three business units. Thomson name new heads of its Legal, Intellectual Property & Science; and Global Growth & Operations businesses with the current occupants leaving the company effective January 1.

The new president of the Legal business, Susan Taylor Martin takes over Thomson's second largest business. The Legal business comprised 21 percent of just over $3 billion in revenue for the third quarter ended September 30. Martin replaces Mike Suchsland. Taylor Martin, who was been with the company since 1993, is currently managing director of Thomson Reuters Legal in the UK and Ireland.

Basil Moftah is the new president of Intellectual Property & Science, which at 8.6 percent of third quarter revenue, is slightly smaller than the Tax & Accounting business (not affected by the latest changes]. Moftah, managing director for the Middle East, Africa and Russia region of GGO, began his career with Thomson in 1997. Moftah replaces Chris Kibarian.

The third promotion went to Gonzalo Lissarrague, who has been appointed president of Global Growth & Operations. Lissarrague currently managing director of the Latin America region of GGO and joined the companyin 1991. He has overseen the company's Latin America operations since 2010. Shanker Ramamurthy, the current president of GGO, is leaving the company.
