Abila Revives MIP Name

Krista Endsley, AbilaAbila has revived the name MIP for the nonprofit accounting software market. The name as been applied to the fund accounting package that Abila acquired earlier this year when it purchased the former Sage Nonprofit Solutions. The product was most recently called Sage 100 Fund Accounting.

The name MIP goes back to 1982 with the founding of Micro Information Products. That company was acquired by Sage in 2001 and  the name MIP was replaced when Sage rebranded its product line.

However, the name did not die among users and software resellers. That was noted by Abila CEO Krista Endsley in explaining why her company had decided to bring back the MIP name.

"We listened to our customers and brought back the MIP name for our fund accounting solution, signifying a rich tradition in software going back 30 years," say Endsley.

Abila has also renamed the rest of the accounting and fundraising software line it purchased from Sage this year. Outside of the name MIP, the other products reflect the replacement of the name Sage by Abila. The other renamed products are Abila Fundraising 50, Abila Fundraising Online, Abila Grant Management, Abila Nonprofit Online and Abila Millennium
