Intuit Speeds Up QuickBooks Online

Kevin Kirn, IntuitIntuit has souped up the performance of QuickBooks Online, the Internet-based edition of its QuickBooks financial software. The system has been tuned to improve the system's speed and, in general, a series of enhancements to the product have been aimed at overcoming some previously inefficient features.

With the previous version, "One of the biggest complaints was that it did not perform as quickly as the desktop version," says Kevin Kirn, group product manager for QuickBooks Online and new products. Now, "It really performs as fast as a typical desktop."Another change has been to the interface for online banking. The prior looked was "a poorly designed interface. It was hard to use and wasn't efficient," he adds.

Among new features are Downloaded Transactions, designed to reduce errors by automatically importing and categorizing new transaction information and the Money Bar, which centralizes income forms, summarizes totals for due or past due transaction items, and guides users on next steps. An Income List has been added that is intended to eliminate the need to visit areas such as income and estimates "if you wanted to see who owed you money," says Kirn."It could be tedious with a lot of jumping around in the product."

The list gives names of accounts and the status of payment and enables users to receive payments. Kirn continues that, "I have a complete list of income transactions, sales receipts, estimates and invoices, I can create new items"

Users can also customize the product by integrating third-party applications, which can be acquired via the Intuit App Center.
