Thomson Selling Property Tax Unit

Thomson Reuters plans to sell its property tax business, one of three lines the company said this week said that it intends to shed. The other two businesses to be divested are the Legal division's Law School Publishing business; and Financial & Risk's operation's eXimius business, which is part of the Retail Wealth Management organization.

The plans were announced in a brief statement this week by CEO James Smith during a webcast in which the company reported its results for 2011. Smith gave no details other than reporting the three operations had $155 million in revenue in 2011. Property Tax Services includes the consulting, compliance and unclaimed property groups and produces custom tax analysis and documentation for corporate customers. Thomson is not selling its OneSource Property Tax software unit, a spokesperson said.
