AICPA, NASBA Try to Cut Education Costs

 A program being piloted by the American Institute of CPAs and National Association of State Boards of Accountancy aims to cut the cost of CPA hopefuls completing their 150-hour education equirement.

The Experience, Learn and Earn program, is beginning fall in collaboration with the Tulane School of Professional Advancement, is a post-graduate program blending online learning and on-the-job experience through participating accounting firms for college accounting graduates.

Tulane SoPA will offer initial classes beginning in January with plans to quickly add other universities.

Individuals will be hired by ELE-affiliate firms that agree to provide the graduate with time during the week for course work. Participants can earn up to 30 credits through online self-study courses with the cost of credit hours set as what are described as “highly affordable rates”.
