Practice Solution Ends in September

Matt JagstThomson Reuters is ending support for its Practice Solution, a practice management application that has been on the market since 1999, following its acquisition. Support for the product ends on September 30 with users offered the opportunity to move to the newer Practice CS.

"It has had a very successful long life," notes Matt Jagst, director of enterprise product management for the company's Tax and Accounting business. Jagst says the product had 5,000 users at one point.

The product became a Thomson application when the former Computer Language Research was acquired in 1998 and then it took about a year for Thomson to get its version of the practice application to the market, according to Jack LaRue, SVP of Thomson's MyPay. LaRue was the marketing VP for the Dexter, Mich.-based operation at that time.

Users can receive discounts for moving to Practice CS, the amount depending on their individual licenses, Jagst says. The company has been actively communicating with users to make sure they are aware of the migration.

"I think they get the message now," Jagst says.
