Applicants must pay a $64.25 fee each for the ID, which will be valid for one year. From that amount, IRS will receive $50 per user, and an outside vendor that is operating the system and providing customer report will receive the other $14.25. The PTIN will be issued immediately after successful registration. A paper application can also be submitted on Form W-12, IRS Paid Preparer Tax Identification Number Application. A toll-free telephone number, (877) 613-PTIN has been established for those requiring technical support in using the online system. | |||
