Intuit prolineIntuit has introduced certifications for users of its Pro Series and Lacerte tax preparation software that the company says would help both those seeking jobs and those hiring them. Users can qualify for the certification by receiving free training from Intuit and purchasing a certification examination.

The tests have a regular price of $249 for each product, but are being offered at an introductory price of $199 each. Those who purchase the examination receive an educational copy of either ProSeries or Lacerte to be used while they complete their study and testing.

Intuit believes the certications will help job seekers differentiate themselves from other candidates, and they will also receive a logo can be used on Web sites, marketing materials and resumes. A spokesman said that certificatied new hires will also be able to get up to speed on a new job much quickly, as opposed to employers having to train them and take up to as long as 30 days to become productive.
